June 24, 2003Segways Attack La Jolla, Film at 11Saw my first Segway today. This guy comes out of nowhere, cuts *diagonally* across one of the busiest 4-way-stop intersections in downtown La Jolla, disobeying who knows how many traffic laws, then zigzagged down a busy sidewalk at what appeared to be the Segway's top speed. When one of these Segway drivers whacks one of the many super-wealthy super-elderly LaJollites on one of these streets or sidewalks, I suspect that might be the end of Segways in La Jolla. Bicyclists running through stop signs and red lights is bad enough; now we've got Segway nuts to deal with too. Feh.Comments
You can rent time on a Segway in Mission Beach (San Diego) for $1 minute. He has two rental period, 5 min and 20 min. Try it for 5 minutes, that's plenty. Darn, this thing doesn't accept HTML. Okay, so it's south of the Giant Dipper on the west side of the plunge building.
