July 27, 2003The Far Side of Domain NamesThe new trailer is up on the Apple Quicktime site for the upcoming film depiction of (what one supposes are the first of several) Patrick O'Brian historical novels, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.Many have remarked how rich the language is in the O'Brian series, but, methinks the Hollywood marketroids went a little bit overboard with the domain name for the Official Web Site for the movie:
Prediction: someone (not me) is going to set up minor-typo versions of that domain, and point them at a web site full of banner ads, to try to cash in on the user errors...
